New
affordable housing resource! Check out the
comprehensive
San Diego area "Housing
Resources Directory 2006-2007." Through a grant from San Diego Regional Center, Community Housing Partnership (a project of Community Interface Services) is working to increase affordable and accessible housing options for persons with developmental disabilities. Affordable housing is a critical need throughout San Diego, and the need is even more desperate for individuals with developmental disabilities, many of whom are on low fixed incomes. The current grant project is focused on two areas: Rental Assistance and Homeownership. The Rental Assistance area includes information on the federal Housing Choice Voucher program, commonly called Section 8. There are examples of how the program works, as well as links to federal information and local agencies that administer the program. In the Homeownership section, the homeownership movement for persons with developmental disabilities is discussed, pros and cons are considered, and the general steps in the process are highlighted. For further
information please contact Michelle Flores at 760-729-3866. |
Due to funding requirements, home ownership services are available only to San Diego Regional Center consumers and family members. |
