Community Housing Partnership seeks to increase
homeownership for qualified individuals with developmental disabilities through:
⇒ Collaborating with local lenders, credit counselors, realtors, and housing agencies to increase products and services for persons with developmental disabilities.
⇒ Raising and distributing funds to assist with down payments and closing costs for qualified individuals.
⇒ Working with legal experts to resolve benefits and trust issues pertaining to homeownership.
⇒ Working with consumers, family members, and service providers to explore and pursue homeownership as an option.
The Community Housing Partnership's role is to assist individuals and families that are receiving services through San Diego Regional Center and are interested in pursuing homeownership. Specific services provided depend on the individual's wants or needs. The Community Housing Partnership is not a mortgage lender or realtor. Instead, Community Housing Partnership links individuals with the resources in the community that they need to become homeowners.
Here are some basic steps in the process in which Community Housing Partnership may be able to assist you:
• Learn about homeownership.
• Review credit situation/ do any necessary credit repair work.
• Get pre-approved for financing.
• Begin looking for your home.
• Make an offer.
• Escrow
With the right combination of preparation, support, hard work, it is possible to plan for and one day own your own home.
Community Interface Services, the parent organization of Community Housing Partnership, has produced materials specifically directed toward homeownership for persons with developmental disabilities.
