Independent Living Services are provided to adults who are able to live on their own in an unsupervised setting of their choice. Typically, people receiving this support live with a roommate, a spouse, or by themselves. Supports are tailored to meet the individual's needs and are provided in the person's home or in the community.
People receiving Independent Living Services work on objectives of their choosing which may include money management, meal planning/preparation, shopping, accessing community resources (including medical providers, social activities, benefit resources, etc.), safety, household management, parenting, etc. Services are geared to assist individuals in becoming as self sufficient as possible, becoming advocates for themselves, and becoming integrated in the community.
Independent Living Services are funded by San Diego Regional Center. Hours can vary from as little as a few hours per month to several hours per day. If an individual requires more than 59 hours per month, they may be more appropriately served through our Supported Living Program.
