Official CIS COVID-19 Statement
March 18, 2020
Dear Community Interface Stakeholder,
The Coronavirus (COVID -19) continues to impact our daily lives and services as the uncertainty and fears increase. The health and safety of the entire CIS family is our greatest priority. We continue to do our best to comply with federal, state, local, and industry recommendations and mandates; keep our participants and staff safe, healthy, and informed; and meet essential service needs. This is a fluid situation and things are changing daily.
As of today, our community-based Career & Community Exploration (CCE) and our Community Integration Training (CIT) day programs are closed. There were just not enough places open in the community to go, and with recommendations to maintain social distancing, it seemed the only decision. In home Independent Living Skills Training and Respite services are also cancelled effective today.
Non-essential Independent Living, Supported Employment, and Day Your Way services are suspended or will be provided on an as needed or remote/virtual basis by Monday the 23rd or sooner. Supported Living Services and Financial Management Services will continue as needed.
We are encouraging our staff and participants who are over 65 or who have compromised respiratory or immune systems to heed the governor’s call to self-isolate. Participants who are self-isolating will receive remote or essential services; if in-home services are needed, appropriate plans to maintain social distancing will be put in place.
We know these changes impact our staff, families, and participants. We are open and here to answer questions or help where we can. Please feel free to contact your staff person or the office. The majority of our staff will be working during this time (mostly from home), providing needed services, updating records, planning for future services, conducting quality assurance activities, receiving training to enhance their skills, participating in remote planning team meetings as needed, and reaching out to families and participants to check in.
We will provide updates as we can. Please be safe and stay in communication.
Regards,
Kimberly Larsen
Executive Director
